With an aim to promote the midwifery model of care, support was provided to midwifery institutions to celebrate the World Breastfeeding Week by organizing an interactive event involving midwifery students, health officials, hospital staff and faculty members.

On August 6, 2024, at Ward Office 17, Lalitpur, second-year Bachelor of Nursing Science and Midwifery students from Patan Academy of Health Sciences conducted an educational role play that covered various aspects of breastfeeding, including its importance, techniques, benefits, and the support systems needed for successful breastfeeding.

On 7th August, Bachelor of Midwifery students and Masters of Nursing (Women’s Health Development) from National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS) organized a breastfeeding exhibition at Paropakar Maternity and Women’s Hospital. The exhibition emphasized the importance of breastfeeding for newborns and mothers and attracted hospital staff and visitors.

As part of the celebrations, the MIDSON team also distributed Surbottam Pitho (a nutritious flour) and Carom seeds (Jwano) to 120 postnatal mothers at the hospital. This initiative was aimed at promoting the nutritional well-being of mothers and supporting breastfeeding practices.
