As part of the Digital Storytelling Project, the Midwifery Society of Nepal (MIDSON) in support of UNFPA, hosted a two-day storytelling workshop on May 22 and 23 at Bougainvilla Events in Tripureshwor with 19 midwives. The workshop aimed to enhance the narrative and communication skills of the professional midwives, to help create short, impactful digital stories highlighting their challenges, successes, and the critical role they play in improving maternal and neonatal health.
The workshop was majorly facilitated by Ujjwala Maharjan (Lead Facilitator) and Nisha Karki (Co-Facilitator) and integrated storytelling techniques with elements of spoken word poetry and performances. The workshop plans were reviewed with MIDSON President Prof. Goma Devi Niraula and Secretary Prasansa Budha Lama who also helped co-lead small group sharing and feedback sessions during the workshops.
The storytelling workshop highlighted the vital role midwives play in Nepal, the challenges they face, and their commitment to providing respectful, skilled care – not only in supporting pregnant women, but also in providing essential care across the full spectrum of sexual and reproductive health.
