The Midwifery Society of Nepal (MIDSON) conducts an annual three-day Young Midwives Leadership Training to empower final-year midwifery students and early-career midwives with leadership skills, confidence, and advocacy strategies. Since 2021, the program has trained 73 midwives across three batches:

First Batch (2021): 30 midwives

Second Batch (2022): 20 midwives

Third Batch (2023): 23 midwives

This year’s training included 41 participants, comprising students, recent graduates, and licensed midwives, fostering knowledge exchange and professional growth. The curriculum covers transformative leadership, advocacy, emotional intelligence, inter-professional collaboration, and updates from the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM).

Supported by UNFPA since its inception, the initiative aims to develop a strong leadership cadre within Nepal’s midwifery profession. These future leaders are expected to drive improvements in midwifery education, practice, and policy, ultimately enhancing maternal and neonatal healthcare nationwide. MIDSON’s commitment to strengthening the profession underscores its role in advancing women’s and children’s health in Nepal.
