ABOUT MIDSON

The establishment of the Professional Association of Midwives in Nepal began in October 2009, inspired by a training program in Sweden and a subsequent conference in India. Key figures, including nurses and educators, recognized the need for a dedicated midwifery association to advocate for skilled midwifery workforce development. After discussions and collaboration among various stakeholders, the Midwifery Society of Nepal was officially registered on February 17, 2010, despite initial resistance from nursing leaders. The association aims to strengthen midwifery competencies and support the government in midwifery-related matters.
