Advocacy on Midwifery: Sensitization, awareness and advocacy on midwifery
In 8 sensitization advocacy programs mainly focusing on Safe motherhood and Reproductive Health Rights Act 2018, model of maternity care and respectful maternity care at the national, provincial, and local level of Province 2,5,6 and 7; and 2 advocacy events among women’s rights defenders and activists on midwifery role on SRMNAH services and rights in Nepal were conducted in Kathmandu at 8 different sites of 5 different provinces, namely Tikapur Community Library and Resource Centre, Kailali; Dadheldhura Public Library in far west province; Human Resource Development Center, Surkhet; Gyanodaya Community Library of Kalali Province; Kohalpur of Province 5; Hotel iGarden, Rajbiraj; Bardibas Community Library of province 2; and Murgiyam Sainamaina Municipality and Tansen Municipality Hall, Tansen of province 5 in the presence of local elected representatives, media persons, women rights activists and women defenders. There were altogether 276 participants, out of which 38 were males and 238 were females in which 169 were local elected representatives, 24 were from media and 83 were women rights activists.
Similarly, the two advocacy events among women’s rights defenders and activists on midwifery role in SRMNAH services and rights had been conducted in Kathmandu at Alfa House, Baneshwor. There were altogether 62 participants where 57 were females and 5 were males, constituting 27 local elected representatives, 8 media, 27 women rights defenders and activists.
